IMAGINE THE WORLD WITHOUT ENGINEERS!!!
i came across dis entry posted by tai leong, hmmm, very interesting indeed... so i re-post it here, he gave a very in-depth explanation bout civil engineering, but for people like me-dis will do..
engineers are indeed important (no wonder my mom likes engineers)
without mechanical engineer
without civil engineerwat bout linguist/language students??? arent we as vital as d engineers???
it's always dis way, arts students regardless of fields are neglected/put aside..
yes, becoz we r not good in math, chemistry, biology, physics ya da ya da ya da, we opt dis route-not dat we dun wanna b on d 'scientific' side..
though we were not chomsky/hymes, n lecturers knew it's impossible to produce 1- we are (at least i am) keen to enhance our command of language as well as contributing to d society with linguistic knowledge we attained in our uni years.. nevertheless, most of us will b embarking in any sphere related to writing & speaking... BUT,
can i b a writer if i'm not J.K Rowling, Lydia Teh, Adibah Amin?
can i b an editor if i'm not Lynette Low?
can i b a columnist if i'm not Marina Mahathir, Hoo Ban Khee, Davin Arul, Wong Chun Wai?
can i b a deejay if i'm not Adam C, Flyguy?
can i b a newscaster if i'm not Hong Ju Khee?
can i b a host if i'm not Sarimah Ibrahim, Marion Counter, Soo Kui Jien?
can i b a lecturer if i'm not Dr.Lee.S.K, Dr.Noraini, Dr.Yuen.C.K?
