A Good Piece for Moody Teachers
ever thought, why the teacher(s) go crazy on students:
TEACHER: Why are you late?
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
TEACHER: Cindy, why are you doing your maths sums on the floor?
CINDY: You told me to do it without using tables!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
TEACHER: John, how do you spell "crocodile"?
JOHN: "K-R-O-K-O-D-A-I-L"
TEACHER: No, that's wrong
JOHN: Maybe it's wrong, but you ask me how I spell it!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
TEACHER: What is the chemical formula for water?
SARAH: "HIJKLMNO"!!
TEACHER: What are you talking about?
SARAH: Yesterday you said it's H to O!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
TEACHER: George, go to the map and find North America.
GEORGE: Here it is!
TEACHER: Correct. Now, class, who discovered America?
CLASS: George!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
TEACHER: Willy, name one important thing we have today that we didn't have ten years ago.
WILLY: Me!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
TEACHER: Tommy, why do you always get so dirty?
TOMMY: Well, I'm a lot closer to the ground than you are.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
SILVIA: Dad, can you write in the dark?
FATHER: I think so. What do you want me to write?
SYLVIA: Your name on this report card.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
TEACHER: How can you prevent diseases caused by biting insects?
JOSE: Don't bite any.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
TEACHER: Ellen, give me a sentence starting with "I".
ELLEN: I is...
TEACHER: No, Ellen. Always say, "I am."
ELLEN: All right... "I am the ninth letter of the alphabet."
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Teacher: "George Washington not only chopped down his father's Cherry tree, but also admitted doing it. Now do you know why his father didn't punish him?"
Johnny : "Because George still had the axe in his hand."
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Son : Daddy, have you ever been to Egypt?
Father : No. Why do you ask that?
Son : Well, where did you get THIS mummy then?
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Teacher : What a pair of strange socks you are wearing, one is green and one is blue with red spots!
Kirk : Yes it's really strange. I've got another pair of the same at home.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
At a church school gathering, one little old lady approached a cute5-year-old girl and asked her where she got her good looks. "I musta got 'em from my Daddy," said the little girl, "'cause Mommy's still got hers."
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Teacher: Desmond, your composition on "My Dog" is exactly the same as your brother's. Did u copy his?
Desmond: No, teacher, it's the same dog!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Teacher: What do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested?

Holi Holiday Foodie~
laksa is the next food you can find.. to be frank, i hated laksa because it looks as if the soup was made from tissue paper-haha, how gross.. but after tasting the laksa at Kek Lok Si (before entering the temple), I was like, hey it's not tissue paper, it's yummy...
the rest of the food can be seen at the bottom.. the ones which are larger means they are tastier..
some random street food.. Penang chu cheong fan, I don't really like it-why? maybe it's too dry, maybe it's due to the prawn paste.. the rest: egg tart, muar chee and dunno-what-are-those-called were fingerlicking good...
*our lunch was break into 2 sessions because according to Leng, we have to try the cake of the day at Amelie's Cafe..
Amelie's cafe does not only sell delicious cakes/brownies and serve nice drinks but the environment is very different.. different as in better.. for me, it's a very very very very very small restaurant (google it if you don't trust me)-how small? it fits 10customers max -4 tables and 1 kitchen occupy the whole restaurant... as for the food and drinks, i tried banana lime, leng asked for longan milk while he ordered espresso and all of us requested the cake-of-the-day which happened to be choco brownie.. nice ambience, nice drinks, nice cake..
the aftermath of this trip --weight gain... grrrr, need to go to the torture chamber more often...
Holi Holiday~
Gua Tempurung, the famous cave in Perak.. Took the shortest route, only 40min-it was my 2nd time there.. and what I can say is, they found a few new cave formation images..
It's Peranakan Mansion-doesn't sound familiar, does Little Nyonya ring a bell? Yeah, it's the mansion where Little Nyonya, the famous Singapore drama was filmed.. a tour guide led a group of tourists, and i without hesitation joined them and listened to a wonderful in-depth description of the house.. *thumbs up*

Weight Issue
The pressure to be skinny
The pressure to be skinny
A Different Spin
By JO-JO STRUYS
Women suffering in silence with their eating disorders.
WHEN I started working in KL, I used to have a standard order at every mamak stall: “Boss, lima roti canai, terima kasih!”
My friends thought I was ordering too much for everyone but I was actually ordering only for myself. They were even more astonished when I finished the whole stack.
“Wow, for a model, you can really eat!”
With comments like that, I truly thought there was nothing wrong with me but I was wrong. It started disturbing me that every foot reflexologist I visited used to make me jump out of my chair at the same point. It was always the stomach!
As it turns out, I had a brush with something called the binge eating disorder without even realising it. A lot of us overeat at special occasions. That’s acceptable. But, if it’s a regular occurrence, it’s a problem.
If you’re the sort to eat until you’re uncomfortably full and are guilty or upset about it afterwards, chances are that you might have this, too. I used to keep snacking even though I was already so full.
The binge eating disorder is so prevalent that it’s the most common eating disorder in the United States. People who have it don’t want to be overweight. But, once food is present, they cannot control themselves. I stumbled on a book about it and literally “cured” myself when I was done reading it. Once I understood it, I broke free of it.
Moderation was something that came naturally once I started listening to my body. It became the most liberating thing to be eating anything I felt like eating without overdoing it or feeling a shred of guilt about it (gone are the days of ordering such an excessive number of roti canai). But, how did I even fall into this? It would have to be when I first started modelling years ago.
I was in an industry driven by looks and models were constantly under pressure to maintain their waistlines. When the world keeps featuring skinny, glamourous figures, it’s no wonder women start thinking that “skinny = beautiful”.
It wasn’t always like this. Supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista were never bone skinny in the 1980s. Marilyn Monroe with all her glorious curves was the benchmark of femininity and sex appeal in the 1950s. So, how did society change its mind about what’s beautiful?
Well, a dangerous trend was set in motion with the emergence of the “waif” look in 1993 which launched Kate Moss’ career. Emaciated models in stupor like poses with that blank, drug addicted look became all the rage in the 1990s. This drew criticism from anti-drug groups and former US President Bill Clinton for glamourising such ultra thin bodies.
When the waif look went mainstream, it spread like a plague, infecting the minds of women trying to achieve this near impossible ideal. What society deemed attractive started to deeply affect how women viewed themselves.
Dieting was taken to extremes and eating disorders mushroomed round the world with anorexia ranked one of the highest mortality rates of any mental disorder. According to the American Psychological Association, eight million Americans suffer from an eating disorder of some sort and about 90% of them are female. In Britain, the British Medical Association called for the media to show more realistic body shapes because the rise in eating disorders was reaching unacceptable levels.
There was a girl in my modelling agency who had three grains of rice and an apple the whole day before she blacked out on a shoot.
She ate a hot meal in front of the clients just to dispel fears that she was suffering from anorexia. Incredibly, she finished the job but was so guilt ridden by the meal that she ran up and down the stairwell of her apartment, just to work it off. She collapsed midway and was later admitted to hospital.
Like many girls with anorexia, starving the body can lead to damage to the heart and major organs. Luckily, she survived but her self-esteem did not. Her old modelling agency stopped calling her for jobs because she was no longer skinny enough for the catwalk.
The deceptive part was that most women who had eating disorders were not rail thin. Anorexia is not the only disorder out there. Bulimics could be normal in weight or slightly overweight so they went undetected, easily hiding their condition. I had a real-life insight into the heart-wrenching darkness of bulimia through women who looked beautiful on the outside, yet were so physically and emotionally battered on the inside.
Against the backdrop of the glitz and glam of showbiz, I discovered what you see isn’t always what you get. On one of my first fashion shoots in Australia, I became close friends with a model who turned heads everywhere she went just walking down the street. Her body had curves in all the right places so I had no idea she was suffering from bulimia. Unlike people with a binge eating disorder, bulimics vomit the contents of their meals after binging which may occur as often as several times a day in severe cases. She once binged on all the potato crisps in her house, three tubs of ice cream left in the freezer and bars of chocolate that would normally last weeks in anyone’s fridge, all in one night.
Driven by guilt and shame, she purged till she was coughing up blood caused by a tear in her esophagus. Her knuckles got scratched up and her throat was so sore, she was croaking the next day. It was frightening.
She asked if I could take her to the pharmacy. Naively, I thought she was seeking medication for her throat. To my horror, I discovered she was buying laxatives because it was too painful for her to purge anymore. She took more than 10 in one shot trying to remove the food from her body, one way or the other. Despite being so outwardly beautiful, it’s quite tragic that my friend was constantly feeling inadequate and not attractive enough.
It reassures me that several countries have started banning images of women who are skin and bones. It’s also a good sign that stars like Beyonce are showing off all their curves without conforming to the skinny stereotype. However, the malnourished waif look has not been fully flushed out of our systems. If the media created interest in this look to begin with, then they’re the only ones able to reverse it by being socially responsible with what they put out.
My heart goes out to women who are suffering in silence with their eating disorders. Seek help. If you are too afraid to talk to anyone about it, then start educating yourself through the Internet. You will realise you are never alone. There’s a wealth of information online and women sharing their stories about what they went through and how they got well again.

p/s: i m very disturbed with my physical outlook now-people near and far have been telling me how much weight i gain.. i realize that, i can see my obvious muffin top, and thanks to those who are constantly reminding me... the result of eating normally & sitting for long hours is gaining a few kgs-just 1 or 2 kgs and the fats appear to make me look extremely plump... i'm back to the torture chamber- yoga class (and it's aching-my back, my leg, hands), cut down the number of meals from 3 to 2-shall see how it goes... sigh~
damn, after study stress, now i have weight stress-when will i be stress free???

Beauty of A Woman

Did you know that if shop mannequins were real women they'd be too thin to have babies?
There are 3 billion women who don't look like supermodels and only eight who do.
Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14.
If Barbie was a real woman, she'd have to walk on all fours due to her proportions.
The average woman weighs 144 lbs and wears between a 12-14.
One out of every four college aged women has an eating disorder.
The models in the magazines are airbrushed - not perfect!
A psychological study in 1995 found that three minutes spent looking at a fashion magazine caused 70% of women to feel depressed, guilty, and shameful.
Models twenty years ago weighed 8% less than the average woman.
Today they weigh 23% less.
Today women are lovers, mothers, and career women. Who else is able to balance such a load, and do it with a smile?
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, The place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the care that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman, with passing years - only grows.
Share this page with all the beautiful women you know - a friend, a mother, a lover, someone special.
-grabbed this from Angie's note-
isn't this very well written?
to those who are still living in the 'oh i am so fat world' (including this idiot, the owner of this blog who re-post the note) read the sentence in BOLD...

Happier Moments~
I talked and sms-ed a few friends of mine over the weekend and this morning I woke up telling myself, hey look here I can be happy if I want to, I am the one who choose to be not all along.. and finally I understand the simple fact that I have to move on no matter what, try looking at things from a different perspective-so instead of groaning over others' shit, be glad that people acknowledge me; instead of complaining how much I've helped but receive none when I am in need, just put on my thinking cap and figure things out which will at the end of the day add on to my existing pool of knowledge; instead of mourning over the workload, try sorting things out and know my priority...
enough with the crap, let's look at what I've been up to:
1. the daijiolosophy people came to sitiawan to pay me a visit during Raya break.. (they are my ukm orchestra mate).. we went to marina island, the new tourist spot in sitiawan.. those we ours, mine is the one with the most scars...
we officiated the mid autumn festival by lighting up that 2 words (which to be frank I do not know the meaning or underlying meaning of it til today)
2. Attended FAS Lunch Gathering one fine day. Those are my colleagues. It was early, that's why our table was rather empty.
3. My belated birthday-a quarter of the century old and I did not have any celebration. It was not a memorable one except the greetings I received. Oh ya, the small lil' tiny choco yummy cake was from s.huey > so thoughtful of her and y.yong for my lunch..
We went for a drink before heading to Bangsar to do some shopping... it was (oh gosh, I forgot the name, some cantonese words) selling herbal tea, turtle shell jelly and all sort of herbal tea which eliminate heat from your body.
took advantage of the nice background and these 2 girl friends of mine did old school pose and we were laughing over it...
me again, and it looked mysterious (is that a positive connotation), thanks to the lenses s.huey used..
we had our dinner at a korean restaurant in Ampang.. it was not any other korean restaurant but an authentic one.. before i talk about the food, i like this pix of yong and I max, also the lil' dishes which complement it... double thumbs up..
finally, the food... it was YUMMYLICIOUS!!! FINGER LICKING GOOD!! fyi, those were common korean dishes and i have tried korean food several times but nothing can beat this.. the moral of the story is, do not go for commercialized version of food, tried looking for the authentic one-how? no worry, I have a food critic friend whose taste bud is so sensitive and has high expectation for food, most importantly she's available most of the time to give her critique..p/s: thank u girls for the fun we had last saturday..
